About 1121 Golden Sella Basmati Rice
Golden Sella is produced through a higher-pressure parboiling process than standard Sella. The paddy is soaked longer and steamed at greater pressure — causing deeper starch gelatinisation and the characteristic golden pigmentation from the bran layer migrating into the grain. The result is a rice that is firmer than standard Sella, has a more pronounced amber colour, and an almost translucent golden appearance when dry.
The golden colour is highly valued across the Gulf region — Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kuwait buyers consistently specify Golden Sella over other forms. The firm grain holds its structure even in large pot cooking, making it ideal for wedding catering, hotel kitchens, institutional food service, and premium retail. The extra firmness also means it responds well to prolonged storage and transport.
1121 Golden Sella is the longest of the Basmati grades in terms of elongation — cooked grains from premium 1121 Golden Sella can reach 22mm or more, a visual indicator of quality that commands premium pricing in wholesale and retail markets. European specialty food importers and South Asian diaspora markets also specify Golden Sella for its distinctive appearance.
